Puzzle Piece 1/4 – At the second checkpoint instead of going forward, go to the left and up to a platform where you can find a spot to blow into the mic. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – When you reach the next checkpoint, before going down the ramp, follow the path back to the right where you can hit a small jump which propels you into the air to grab this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – After going underneath the large controller statue and entering the road area, this puzzle piece is on the left on the section of music chips.

The game is about playing as a survivor of a zombie infestation who must find and lead stranded civilians to safety. It’s notable for using satellite imagery from Google Earth to render its cities. On another table in the Labo area is a purple dragon surrounded by red Gems. This is a reference to 1998’s Spyro the Dragon on PS1, developed by Insomniac Games.

It didn’t change the core of the game, but it made the overall experience better. Coin luck8 in Astro Playroom is straightforward but requires attention to detail. Revisit levels after completing the story to find missed coins; Break objects like crates and ice blocks to reveal additional coins.

Each world represents a classic PlayStation console from the PS1 all the way up to the PS5. Each level has a few secret puzzle pieces and artifacts for players to collect and use to unlock more rewards. In Astro’s Playroom, the adaptive triggers come up a lot, but the most obvious demonstration of them is when Astro hops into a spring suit.

The shapes are what Knack is made of, and he was designed to showcase the power of the PlayStation 4 by being made up of thousands of objects. It’s a reference to Symphony of the Night thanks to the blonde hair. In one of the animations, the Bot will check a clock, referencing how Dracula only returns from the dead every 100 years. Castlevania is a very important game, as it alongside Super Metroid helped establish the Metroidvania genre.

Astro’s Playroom: All Artefacts Locations

Throw the cannister with the net inside at the blue aura when the lock-on symbol appears to reveal the Special Bot. Go under the bridge and immediately on your right pull the exposed cable cords to grab a throwable canister with a net inside. Punch the shell to reveal a steering wheel, then stand in front of it push the Options button to bring up the map. Go to the far right corner of the beach, next to the building, on the opposite side of where the Gran Turismo Astro Bot is. Proceed through the stage as normal until you reach the first dynamite enemy.

Miscellaneous Trophies

This spun off into their own full VR action-platformer game, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, which got a ton of critical praise and even the Best VR/AR Game award at the 2018 Game Awards. As spotted by Twitter user realradec, Astro’s Playroom received an update for February 2025 that added the PS5 Pro as an artifact. In Astro’s Playroom, players can obtain “Artifacts” from a gacha machine that unlocks collectible PlayStation products. Although Team Asobi did not formally announce it, the update also added the PS5 Pulse Elite Headset and Pulse Explore Earbuds. Once players obtain these Artifacts, they can display their giant versions in the PlayStation Labo area. Finally, the update also changed Astro’s Playroom boot-up cover art.

Jump onto the thin ledge behind the tree and head left to the Everybody’s Golf VR easter egg. From here you can jump back down to cloud blowing the rotating platform, with the Piposaru container nearby. To do this, continue through the level until you get to the part where you have to ride on a PS1 / PS1 controller cloud. Instead of jumping left to the next Checkpoint, you should jump up the ledges on the rock wall to get to the top.

The only unknown one is the one with the Ethernet port, which doesn’t match any PlayStation system. These icons were displayed on the back of PS1 game boxes to show what features the game supported. The icons on the monitor are, from left to right, Memory Card block requirement, Dual Analog support, Link Cable support, DualShock support, PlayStation Mouse support, Player count, and Multi-Tap support.

While not needed for the Platinum Trophy‚ they add depth and fun‚ celebrating PlayStation history. Completing these unlocks unique achievements and brings you closer to 100% completion‚ making them a great bonus for dedicated players. Boss Fight Trophies in Astro Playroom are unlocked by defeating specific bosses in various levels. These encounters are scattered across the game’s worlds‚ such as the T-Rex in “Casey’s Toybox” or the final boss in the “Playroom.” Each boss fight is unique and requires mastering Astro’s abilities. Defeating bosses rewards you with puzzle pieces and progresses the story. While most boss trophies are straightforward‚ some may demand precise timing and strategy.

If you get it wrong, then you’ll need to scale the hill again, grab another bunch of bananas, and retry the dance minigame. If you’re successful, you’ll unlock the bot and get the “No Escape! Stand at the edge of the level and throw the projectile towards it to reveal the location of the bot. First, activate the first two rope bridges by pulling the wires out of the ground. Now, return to the starting area, and to the side, you’ll find another set of wires, which gives you a projectile with a net inside. Before you do that, stand on the edge just to the left of where you need to pull the chest from the ground.

You can also visit the GPU Jungle, which, as the name implies, is more of a jungle ruin to play around in, and the SSD Speedway with its neon sci-fi backdrop. The use of resistant triggers has been a concern of mine since the announcement of the new DualSense controller. It is very important I mention that Sony does include the ability to change the trigger resistance at the system level – it can even be turned off completely if necessary. Artifact 1/2 “Buzz Controller”– At the first hang glider section, you need to try and reach the upper platform to the left of the platform you’re aiming for.

After reaching the first Checkpoint in Caching Caves, look for a box frame structure in the ground you can drop into. In addition to a Puzzle Piece, you’ll see a Bot prancing down a line and clearing various shape-based obstacles. Vib-Ribbon was unique in that it loaded entirely into the PS1’s RAM, allowing players to insert their own music CDs to play levels to. On the right-hand side of the CRT pile at the end of the level are some Bots huddled around gaming on a CRT. The game they’re playing references Ridge Racer, released in 1997 for the PS1 and made by Delphine Software International. The title screen has close similarities to the original Ridge Racer and sequel Revolution, particularly the latter with a full-screen chequered flag.

Then throw the capsule at the blue cloud as shown in the second picture below. Astro’s Playroom is a free game, pre-installed to every PlayStation 5 console. Whilst initially awestruck by the game, it didn’t take very long to see why Sony’s catchy ‘For the Players’ tagline is an admirable slogan built on a history of gaming icons. This game is incredibly well-made; the care put into it is visible in every corner; but as it is it was not made for people like me. Finally, as much as I adore Astro’s cute nature and attention to detail with its celebration of PlayStation nostalgia, I would have loved a more considered narrative on top of all that. I mentioned this already in my Astro’s Playroom preview, but it really can’t be overstated how innovative the DualSense PS5 Controller is and just how effective Astro’s Playroom is at showing it off.
